A reinforced concrete slab in a gravel bed is a high-quality foundation option.
The soil is excavated to a frost-proof depth (approx. 60 - 80 cm, depending on the region), then the excavation is filled with gravel (grain size up to 35 mm) and compacted. The concrete foundation is then laid with 1 to 2 layers of structural steel mesh - the thickness of the concrete slab should be approx. 10 - 15 cm. After hardening, the pergola is mounted on the foundation and all uprights are fastened three times each using the fastening material supplied. Fastening in gravel concrete is not sufficiently storm-proof!
The point or strip foundation is a more cost-effective variant of the concrete foundation and ensures secure anchoring.
The foundation points must be created at the specified points with a side length of at least 60 x 60 x 80 cm - please refer to the point foundation plans provided. The excavation for the foundation points must be sufficiently deep (frost-proof). The excavation is filled with gravel (grain size up to 35 mm) and then compacted - this layer forms the basis for the subsequent concrete layer (at least 80 cm).

As an alternative to the point foundation, a strip or ring foundation can also be produced. Please note that at least the points specified in the respective point foundation plan must be created to enable fastening.
When using the optional slatted side wall, a horizontal strip foundation must be installed on this side.
The pergola can also be installed with decking
If there is a concrete slab underneath, it can also be installed with decking (such as on tiles). Anchoring must be carried out in the underlying concrete (no grit concrete permitted). To do this, either drill through the decking (special drill may be required, not included) or the decking is removed at the relevant foundation points and restored flush with the upright after installation.
Important: Water drainage at the lower end of the upright must be guaranteed.
